Musician-Ship
Available to students age 9 and over. Musician-ship focuses on the fundamental building blocks of music while still using the voice as the instrument of choice. Students will learn how to begin reading music, how to begin singing what they are reading, basic music theory, and will begin basic performance techniques. Students who sign up for this class will have six one-half hour lessons from September to October; see attached calendar for exact list. Students who complete this class are eligible to move into Musician Middle Ground with the approval of the instructor. Space is limited so sign up early! |
Musician Middle Ground
Available to students age 9 and over who have completed one or more semesters of Musician-ship Musician Middle Ground will focus on many of the same elements of Musician-ship, but will begin to dig more into these topics. More advanced sight-singing skills will be developed, as well as more work with performance techniques. Students who sign up for this will have six 45-minute lessons from September to October, the same weeks as Musician-ship on the attached calendar. Students who complete this class are eligible to move into The Singers’ Studio with the approval of the instructor, provided they meet the age requirements. Space is limited so sign up early! |
The Singers’ Studio
Available to students age 13 and over, or available to students age 11-1 with prior completion of one or more semesters of Musician-ship and Musician Middle Ground, as well as instructor approval. The Singers’ Studio resembles more traditional voice lessons. Students will begin to dig deeper into performance techniques and acting through song. Students will also continue studying basic music theory and sight-singing techniques. Students who sign up for this will have 12 one-hour lessons from September-December.
