About the Show: Set in a small town where everyone knows everyone and Seth Huggins,the Village Postmaster, runs just about everything. His daughter loves John Harper, but John is a poor minister's son, so Huggins sets her up to marry the enterprising Ben Deane. Will Miranda Huggins follow her heart or her father's wishes? Written by Alice Emma Ives ("The Voice of the 1890s") and premiered in New York City in 1896, The Village Postmaster was a wildly popular play in its time, performed all over the country.

About the Director: Yasmine Marie Jahanmir is a scholar, director, and synchronized swimmer. She is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at the University of Nevada, Reno. Her wide-ranging academic work—on sport and performance, Middle Eastern popular theatre, and performance pedagogy—is rooted at the intersection of theater history, performance theory, and gender studies. As a director, she is passionate about collaborating to create playful, audacious, and colorful theatre that inspires and provokes. She has directed theater and short film projects in New York City, California, Arizona, Kuwait, and Nevada. She recently was awarded a Nevada Humanities grant, in collaboration with Rosie Brownlow-Calkin, to engage the Veteran community in theatre-making. www.yasminejahanmir.com
